ACCEPTED FOR RECYCLING (no charge):

  • E-WASTE (TVs, computers and computer peripherals, and small electronics - please see below for list of electrical items NOT accepted as e-waste)
  • PLASTICS #1 through #7, including plastic bags (must be clean - no food or liquid residue)
  • GLASS (must be clean - no food or liquid residue)
  • PAPER, including newspaper, glossy paper, and hardback books with covers removed
  • CARDBOARD (no juice cartons or other waxed cardboard; boxes must be broken down)
  • METAL including cans (washed out), swing sets, lawn mowers, weed whackers, bicycles, tools, fencing, hardware, wire hangers, and appliances (freezers, refrigerators and air conditioners must have freon removed)
  • FOOD SCRAPS 

Compost kits for collecting food waste are available for purchase from the Recreation Department. 

 

ACCEPTED WITH PERMIT:

  • HOUSEHOLD JUNK, including wood furniture, rugs and cushions

You can now pay for your permit by credit card at the Recycling Center.  If you prefer to pay by cash or check, you may do so at the Town House.  Permits are for one-time use and are based on vehicle size: $20/car; $35/SUV; $75/pickup.  

 

NOT ACCEPTED:

  • Medical waste
  • Light bulbs
  • Paint cans or metal containers used to store hazardous materials, toxic waste or chemicals
  • Cars, other vehicles, or tires
  • Car or household batteries
  • Brush or yard waste
  • Household garbage
  • Mirrors or porcelain
  • Storage sheds
  • Swimming pool liners
  • Construction materials, including sinks, toilets, countertops, cabinets, doors, insulation, windows, tiles, roofing, plasterboard, paneling, asphalt, cement, and wood

NOT ACCEPTED AS E-WASTE (permit required):

  • Cameras or video cameras
  • Portable or stationary radios
  • Household appliances such as clothes washers, clothes dryers, refrigerators, freezers, microwave ovens, ovens, ranges or dishwashers
  • Equipment that is functionally or physically part of a larger piece of equipment intended for use in an industrial, research and development or commercial setting
  • Security or anti-terrorism equipment
  • Monitoring and control instruments or systems
  • Thermostats 
  • Hand-held transceivers
  • Telephones of any type
  • Portable digital assistants or similar devices
  • Calculators
  • Global positioning system (GPS) receiver or similar navigation devices
  • Any servers other than small-scale servers
  • Cash registers or retail self-checkout systems
  • Stand-alone storage products intended for use in industrial, research and development or commercial settings
  • Commercial medical equipment that contains cathode ray tubes, flat panel displays, or similar video display devices
  • Other medical devices as that term is defined under the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act
  • Lighting ballasts with circuit boards
  • Portable wand scanners
  • UPS batteries 
  • Temperature monitoring devices
  • Whiteboards as a display surfaces
  • Standalone karaoke machines
  • Single-function tag readers
  • Handheld label machines not used with a computer
  • RFID tags
  • HDMI switches
  • Video baby monitor
  • Preamplifiers
