Notice of Fire Commissioner Election

New York State law requires that fire commissioner elections be held on the second Tuesday in December from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The next election for the position of Fire Commissioner will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Pound Ridge Fire Department, 80 Westchester Avenue.  The only candidate is Joseph Roemer, who is running for re-election to the seat he currently occupies.

This election is for a seat on the Board of Fire Commissioners for a term of five (5) years, to commence on January 1, 2026 and end on December 31, 2030.

Candidates for Fire Commissioner must have filed their names in writing with the Secretary of the Pound Ridge Fire District no later than November 28, 2025.

To vote in fire commissioner elections, a person must be a registered voter who has been a resident of the fire district for at least thirty (30) days and who is registered to vote at their Pound Ridge Fire District address.

There are five (5) fire commissioners at any given time, on an overlapping term schedule so that one seat is open each year. A fire commissioner must be a US Citizen and a resident of the fire district and must never have been convicted of arson in any degree.
