Pesticide-Free Care
Protect our environment and your lawn by putting a stop to the use of toxic chemical pesticides.
Though pesticides are a quick, easy and often effective way to get rid of pests attacking your lawns, gardens, and farms, their negative effects outweigh their positive ones. Toxic chemical pesticides have the ability to kill or repel non-target, beneficial organisms, contaminate and persist in soil, water, and nearby vegetation, and cause malignant health effects to humans. In order to avoid any and all of these issues, you can switch from using synthetic, toxic chemical pesticides, to any of the numerous alternative methods. These alternatives can be physical, biological, or non-toxic chemical barriers.
The Pesticide-Free Care booklet will outline the following:
- General information on pesticides
- How to handle and dispose of pesticides
- Specific types of toxic chemical pesticides
- Environmental effects of specific toxic chemical pesticides
- Human health effects of specific toxic chemical pesticides
- Alternatives to toxic chemical pesticides
-Physical barriers
-Biological barriers
-Non-toxic chemical barriers
Please take some time to look at the informational booklet below so you can be better equipped to handle and, more importantly, stop using toxic chemical pesticides.
In addition, help us reach this goal by taking The Pledge on the Health Yards page and agreeing to manage your yard without synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers, and to properly dispose of pharmaceuticals.
Every yard — big or small — makes a difference!
