This award is an important badge of honor for our community as it demonstrates how much we value our local trees and our commitment to a healthy environment. In Pound Ridge we are committed to preserving green spaces, planting trees and protecting forests for future generations. Trees strengthen our community, enhance our environment and improve the quality of life for all who live here.
In addition, for the past 4 years, we have earned the "Growth Award" which is also presented by the Arbor Day Foundation to communities that demonstrate higher levels of tree care and community engagement during the calendar year.
The Growth Award is bestowed to a community alongside their Tree City USA recognition for demonstrating environmental improvement and a higher level of tree care. The Growth Award recognizes major milestones and annual activities in five categories on a point based system to build sustainable community forestry programs over the long term such as: building a team, measuring trees and forests, planning the work, performing the work, and building the community framework.
