Pound Ridge Swim, Dive & Pre-Team

The Pound Ridge Swim and Dive Team will begin practice on June 8, 2026, with the final practice on July 31, 2026

Tryouts will take place Saturday May 30th, Rain date of Sunday May 31st, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Registration for tryouts is required on Community Pass (no fee). 


Practice Schedule

 June 8 – June 26: 

  • 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM - 11 & Over Swim
  • 5:15 PM - 6: 15PM - 10 & Under Swim 
  • 6:15 PM - 7:00 PM - B Dive (Divers with 2 or less dives)
  • 7:00-8:00 PM - A Dive (Divers with 4 of more dives)

June 27th – July 31

  • 7:30-8:30 AM  - 11 & Over Swim
  • 8:30-9:15 AM - 10 & Under Swim 
  • 3:30-4:30 -  A Dive (Divers with 4 of more dives)
  • 4:30-5:15 PM - B Dive (Divers with 2 or less dives)
  • Campers can be dropped off at swim practice; coaches will bring them to their camp groups for morning meeting

10 & Under swimmers must be signed into practice at the Booth Gate by a parent/guardian. Parents/guardians must indicate whether they are bringing their child down to camp, if they don’t go to PRDC and will be picked up after practice or if the coaching staff will be bringing the camper down to camp on that given day. 

11 & Over swimmers will be dropped off to Day Camp or Teen Travel Camp. Teen Travel will be provided transportation from practice to PRES by the Recreation Department. Transportation Waiver must be signed via Google Survey by the first day of camp.

Pre - Team:

Practice Times:

  • June 8 – June 26: 5:15 PM – 6:15 PM
     
  • June 29 – July 30: 8:30 AM – 9:15 AM

To join the Pre-Team, swimmers must be able to swim one lap of the competition pool unassisted. Flotation devices are not permitted during tryouts or practices.

Pre-Team is ideal for beginners who are new to swimming strokes. Swimmers will be introduced to each stroke and learn the basic techniques needed to perform them correctly.

Pre-Team swimmers are encouraged to participate in B Meets, held both at home (Pound Ridge Town Park) and away (neighboring pools). These meets offer a supportive environment where swimmers can gain experience and choose to swim in as many heats as they wish.


10 and Unders: 

The 10 & Under swim practice is designed for swimmers with some swim team experience and a basic understanding of stroke techniques. This practice focuses on refining existing skills and building endurance through structured sets created by the coaching staff.

10 & Under swimmers are encouraged to participate in both A and B Meets:

  • A Meets: Swimmers are assigned specific strokes by coaches and compete with their age group.
     
  • B Meets: A more relaxed environment where swimmers can try new strokes and gain experience in events they may not swim in A Meets.

11 and Overs:

The 11 and Over swim practice is designed for swimmers ample swim team experience and a developed understanding of stroke techniques. This practice focuses on building endurance and targeting specific areas for improvement through structured sets created by the coaching staff.

11 & Over swimmers are encouraged to participate in A Meets. Swimmers are assigned specific strokes by coaches and compete with their age group.


Dive Team: 

Open to all skill levels—from beginners to experienced club divers. The team focuses on introducing new dives and refining techniques.

Requirements:
Divers must be able to perform a basic dive off the board. Flotation devices are not permitted at tryouts or practices.

Meet Participation:
Coaches will assign divers to A or B groups based on skill development throughout the season.

  • A Meets: Divers are assigned a specific dive and compete with their age group.
     
  • B Meets: Similar format in a more relaxed setting, ideal for gaining meet experience and building confidence.
